"The Office of Paul Sahre (O.O.P.S.) defeated defending champion
karlssonwilker inc. to win the 2005 World Graphic Design Foosball Championship.
It was sweet revenge for O.O.P.S. who avoided a repeat of its 2004 finals loss.
The difference this year was the brilliant goal play of Joon Moo Kang,
who again and again blocked Jan Wilker's 3-man pull shot.
3rd place in the tournament went to Doyle Partners, who advanced to the
losers bracket final by defeating the Funky LP's in 3 games.
Doyle then lost to karlssonwilker, ending a strong run by DP's Robertson and Iselt.
Fuchswell, who was thought to be one of the frontrunners in this year's
tournament, was knocked out by the all female team of
Kirshenbaum Bond and Partners.
Despite the threat of a transit strike, the cold weather and the proximity
to Christmas, the tournament was much larger and louder than last year.
This year’s tournament was played on 3 tornado tables.
Of this year's tournament field of 44 teams, other strong showings came from
Ogilvy's B.I.G., James Victore Inc., Number 17, and Sagmeister Inc."
